I did not know how it would go– and was a little skeptical, at first– coming in to pray for an hour, and handing it off to someone else, and all of that… But, I was amazed at how the time flew by. I did not have enough time to do everything that I wanted, and had to come back. I’m wondering, why were we never taught that prayer could be this engaging and exciting? Why have we reduced it to just… well… to what it usually is…?

I went to the warehouse with my Dad a few times and liked making prayers with the clay and drawing and painting. It helped me talk to God and think about what I was saying and what I wanted to say. My Daddy and I talked about what we were making and I learned a lot, too.

I’m a 56-year-old woman who has only been a Christian for 2 years and I have always found it especially hard to pray out loud but after spending time in the prayer room, God has done great things for me and I would like to lead the prayer this morning for service.

We were preaching through the “finding God, hearing God’s will” series. I had the idea that we should open the warehouse to have some times for people to come pray only– then Thom McGuire suggested that we go around the clock in the warehouse for a week– the whole week. And, he gave me the book Red Moon Rising to read. The painting and studying all made sense, as did the writing, because I had prayed like this and it felt like prayer but I had never thought of it, because you’re never taught that these could be valid expressions of prayer… And, that it might deepen the prayer life you have. So, yeah… that’s a long way to answer. And, about halfway through the book I felt like it was the answer to that thing that had puzzled me for a long while.
