Vision:

The Two Purposes

The Abbey’s purpose is deeply rooted in its commitment to love God through prayer and to love neighbors through practice. This profound devotion shapes the very essence of the community and is inextricably intertwined with its existence.

Through fervent prayer, the Abbey seeks to establish a profound connection with the divine. This spiritual union serves as the foundation for all their endeavors, infusing each action with a sense of reverence, purpose, and meaning. The members of the community spend hours in contemplation, immersing themselves in the divine presence, seeking solace, guidance, and enlightenment.

At the same time, the Abbey’s dedication to practicing love towards neighbors manifests in tangible ways. They understand that spirituality without action is incomplete, and hence, they channel their love for God into acts of kindness, compassion, and service towards others. Whether it is tending to the sick, feeding the hungry, or comforting the broken-hearted, the Abbey’s members are relentless in their pursuit of embodying love in action.

While the Abbey’s mission embraces both the spiritual and the practical, it is through their defined location that these purposes find concrete expression. The physical space of the Abbey serves as a sanctuary where individuals come together in pursuit of shared devotion and service. It is a haven where prayers are offered, relationships are nurtured, and transformative encounters occur.

Within the Abbey’s walls, a tapestry of diverse souls intertwines as they embark on their spiritual journey together. United in their faith, their individual stories intersect, creating a vibrant community where love, understanding, and acceptance flourish.

Thus, the Abbey’s purpose goes beyond mere words; it is a lived experience. It is the embodiment of faith in action, an oasis of prayer, and a beacon of love amidst a world in need. Through their unwavering commitment to love God through prayer and love neighbors through practice, the Abbey stands as a testament to the transformative power of devotion and service.

The Three Principles

The Abbey is centered around a thriving community that is dedicated to embodying the following values:

*Authentic: True to Christ.
*Relational: Kind to People.
*Missional: Taking the Gospel to the World

The Six Practices
The Abbey Community applies these three principles practically through six core activities:

The Abbey is faithful to Christ by being:

*A prayerful community practicing a daily rhythm of intercession, contemplation, and Christian worship.
*A creative community where artistic expressions of prayer and worship may take the form of art, sculpture, new music, poetry, dance, etc.

The Abbey is kind to people by being:

*A merciful community where the local poor’s practical needs are met and liberation is championed.
*A hospitable community where pilgrims are welcomed, meals are shared, and friendships can flourish across boundaries of race and culture.

The Abbey is committed to sharing the gospel by being:

*A missional community exists for those who don’t know Jesus locally and cross-culturally. To act as well as to pray.
*A learning community of training and discipleship where people grow in their faith, life skills, and leadership ability.
